As San Diego's only Oncology Rehabilitation specialty practice, New Horizons Physical Therapy offers comprehensive Lymphedema and Cancer Rehabilitation services.

At New Horizons Physical Therapy, we utilize the most technologically advanced assessment tools to assess your condition and implement the most effective treatment intervention.

Our Lymphedema evaluation process utilizes a Perometer®, a computerized infrared optoelectronic volumetry analysis device, to more accurately and efficiently measure limb volume and identify the presence of Lymphedema. This device allows us to identify the earliest onset of edema that is typically NOT identified by other conventional methods such as volumetry or tape measure assessments. Because of this precise assessment, we can identify Lymphedema at its earliest onset and provide the most appropriate clinical intervention. Currently, we are the ONLY Lymphedema treatment facility in all of San Diego County that utilizes this advanced clinical assessment technology.

We also provide the gold standard of Lymphedema care, Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT), which includes skin / nail care, Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD), daily compression bandaging, and therapeutic exercise. As a Certified Fitter for all major brands of compression garments, we provide exact measurement and fitting for any custom compression garment once treatment is completed.

Our Cancer Rehabilitation program is the only such program in San Diego County. It addresses the many side effects that result from cancer treatment such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. Many clients experience chronic fatigue, generalized muscle weakness, shortness of breath, limitations in range of motion and flexibility, as well as balance and coordination problems. To address the cardiovascular and pulmonary deficits that commonly result from chemotherapy and radiation treatments, we offer a very unique, individualized prescriptive exercise program that is focused on restoring physical function, strength, endurance and quality of life to participants.

Dr. Tammy E. Mondry, DPT, MSRS, CLT-LANA is a board Certified Lymphedema Therapist recognized by the Lymphology Association of North America (LANA), and has treated Lymphedema clients exclusively since 1997.

Dr. Joe Mondry, DPT, MSRS, CSCS, CLT is an Orthopedic Manual Therapist who is also a Certified Lymphedema Therapist and a board Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He has also obtained additional certification as a Certified Cancer Exercise Specialist. His expertise is in treating the many orthopedic, musculoskeletal, and functional deficits that result from cancer and cancer treatment.
